If you’re thinking about building an inground or above ground pool in the backyard of your house you probably now find yourself faced with a decision: what material is my pool going to be made out of? You basically have three distinct choices for usable materials with pools. You can go with your standard <a href="http://blueicepool.com/inground-swimming-pools/"title="" >inground swimming pools made of concrete that’s rough around the edged but will last you for a long time, you can go with your vinyl pool that will feel smooth to the touch with <a href="http://blueicepool.com/how-to-replace-your-above-ground-pool-liners/"title="" >pool liners but will break down in only a couple years, or you can go with the best of both worlds and get a fiberglass pool. Of course, if you are on a budget, you can go with an <a href="http://blueicepool.com/the-inflatable-pool-the-thrifty-man%E2%80%99s-pool/"title="" >inflatable pool as well!

Fiberglass swimming pools are by far the best swimming pools on the market today. There are several <a href="http://blueicepool.com/swimming-pool-designs/"title="" >swimming pool designs offered for <a href="http://blueicepool.com/three-reasons-to-buy-fiberglass-pools/"title="" >fiberglass pools, which is great since you can pick the design before constructing even starts! A fiberglass inground pool is easy to install, it’s easy to maintain, and it is cost-effective. If you were to ask a veteran pool owner what kind of material he would use today if he could build a brand new pool in his backyard, he would tell you that he would go with a fiberglass swimming pool. Fiberglass is also the standard material used for individual <a href="http://blueicepool.com/best-lap-pool-model-reviews/"title="" >lap pools.

Fiberglass Pool Prices Are the most Sensible in the Long Run

This is an inground fiberglass pool.

The number one reason for anyone to buy a fiberglass pool is always going to be found in the budget. Fiberglass pools prices are a little bit higher than your average vinyl or concrete pool, but in the long run the fiberglass pools save you a lot of money in repair costs.

Unlike concrete pools, when fiberglass develops a chip or a break in the bottom of the pool, you don’t have to replace a huge chunk of the pool. I remember when a crack developed in my father’s concrete inground pool. Over time that crack turned into a chunk and he had to spend a ton of money to have it fixed up. Fiberglass pools can just be touched up with more fiberglass. No big construction jobs required.

While there are many variables in price when making the actual purchase, you can expect to spend anywhere between $10,000 to $25,000 on just the shell when buying a fiberglass pool (including the <a href="http://blueicepool.com/three-main-types-of-pool-filter/"title="" >pool filters system). The main variable here is obviously the size of the pool you want. <a href="http://blueicepool.com/inground-pool-prices/"title="" >Inground pool prices for other types of pools can vary considerably.

Fiberglass Pools Are Easy to Install

These are some fiberglass pool shells still not installed.

Now, I’m not saying you can install a fiberglass pool yourself. You’re always going to want to hire a professional <a href="http://blueicepool.com/finding-a-reliable-swimming-pool-service-in-your-area/"title="" >pool service to install an inground pool, even if it is made out of fiberglass, because you never know what could go wrong in the hands of an amateur. What I am saying is that you won’t have to shell out as much money to hire a contractor to install your fiberglass pool because they are generally a lot easier to put in place.

Fiberglass Pools are Easy to Maintain

The beginning stages of a fiberglass pool installation.

One of the biggest myths about fiberglass pools is that they can pop out of place and crack up. Where this myth came from I have no idea but it is simply ridiculous. Fiberglass pools are built to never crack. There’s no guarantee against cracking but they are far more unlikely to crack than a concrete pool and they won’t tear like vinyl pools will.

The nice thing about fiberglass is that if it does ever crack up or come out of place it only requires a simple solution. Slap on a few more layers of fiberglass where the cracks have developed and you will have yourself a brand new pool.

Over all, inground fiberglass pools are going to be your best option for <a href="http://blueicepool.com/types-of-inground-pools/"title="" >inground pools. Fiberglass swimming pools have the smooth surfaces of vinyl with the rugged durability of concrete, they are easily installed and easier to repair, and they don’t cost you a lot of money. If you’ve already determined that you have enough space and enough money to install an inground pool in your house you would be wise to make it a fiberglass one.
