Soliciting the help of a <a href="http://blueicepool.com/finding-a-reliable-swimming-pool-service-in-your-area/"title="" >pool service company will ensure that you spend your free time enjoying your pool, not cleaning and repairing it. Some pool owners put off opening their pool for the summer because they dread the amount of work it takes to get water in good shape for use. Others may be considering investing in a pool, but are nervous about the amount of time required both for the set up and the subsequent maintenance.

There are companies that offer a litany of pool services that will take care of any aspect of pool maintenance you desire. These companies are just as useful for those who have a small above ground pool, as they are for large or commercial in ground models. Most allow you to pick and choose which swimming pool services you would like to outsource, giving their customers a great deal of control over the amount of money spent on pool maintenance.

Hiring a pool service can save you hours of frustration and headache.

If you are just setting up a pool, finding the right pool service company will help you start off on the right foot. Particularly with above ground pools, many new owners will try to tackle the installation themselves. While this can be done, it is incredibly time consuming and complicated. One must hook up a filter, buy all the necessary hoses, and test the water studiously to make sure that the chemical balance is correct. For those who are not contracting a builder for installation, a pool service company may be locally available that can take care of all these steps for you and supply all the necessary materials. This swimming pool service will often do the job for a one-time fee and their expertise can curb the need for future repairs.

Those who currently own a pool can still take advantage of pool service companies. Everyone who has owned a pool knows that opening a pool for the season can be a chore. Not only must water be cleaned and tested, but often parts must be reinstalled or repaired after months of dormancy. Most pool cleaning services offer a pool opening package. This package does not require that customers sign a long term contract with the company, but is intended as a single visit that will get the pool into shape for use. As a part of the service, the company will ensure that the chemistry of the water is correct, water levels are at the optimum height for filtration and that the filter is running well and leak free. The cost of the service varies widely based on geographical area and the specific pool cleaning service that you use, but many will cost as little as $150.

Contracing a swimming pool service company to maintain your pool is usually very affordable, and for many people a worthy investment.

Using a pool service company for regular pool cleaning will require more of an investment, but more and more working families are finding that this extra expense is more than worth it. Customers who are interested in scheduling regular visits are given a lot of flexibility in deciding on the frequency with which the pool will be cleaned as well as the specific jobs that will be done on each visit. There are a number of factors that may impact the cost of these services, including the size of the pool, any additional filters or accessories that may require cleaning and whether or not the company will be providing the cleaning supplies. For any accurate estimate, contact your local pool service company with specific information about the size of your pool and your expectations. They are more than willing to work with you to find a cleaning plan that will fit your budget.

A good pool maintenance service will also employ skilled technicians that can fix a damaged pool lining, replace hoses or repair filters. Even if you are not a regular customer, consider contacting your area pool and spa service company before replacing any parts on your pool. In many cases, a swimming pool repair service can quickly identify the problem and fix it at a fraction of the cost of a replacement part. If you are curious about the cost of repair, feel free to request an itemized list of the charges associated with common problems. Some pool repair services also offer free consultations on pool repairs. If you are not sure whether or not your local company provides this service, just ask.

The right swimming pool cleaning service can save pool owners both time and money. Finding the right pool service company can be as easy as talking to employees at your local pool and spa store or doing a quick internet search. Some pool service companies are more reliable than others, so new customers should always request references before signing any contracts or they can talk to neighbors about their experiences with any of the area service providers. Using a pool service company will exponentially increase any homeowner’s enjoyment of their pool.

If you are in the market for a new <a href="http://blueicepool.com/pool-cleaner-reviews/"title="" >pool cleaner, you may be overwhelmed by the number of options available to individual pool owners. With automatic pool cleaners available at every price range, from $100.00 for the simplest model, to $1,000.00 and higher for more complex models, this new purchase will necessarily require some background work before a make and model can be settled on. The following article will attempt to distinguish some of the features available on the newest swimming pool cleaner models.

When looking for the right pool cleaner to suit your needs, there are several factors that need to be considered. Price range is one the most obvious. Most swimming pool cleaners can be purchased for between $200.00 and $600.00 USD, with more or less complex and comprehensive models available for higher and lower prices. Regardless of your desired price range, an automatic pool cleaner is an investment, and should be treated as such. Look for brands that offer warranties and product support. Also look for pool cleaner brands that have a good reputation for quality, effective, and long-lasting products. Some manufacturers even feature trade-in or trade-up programs, allowing their customers to upgrade to one of their newer, more efficient models, and ensuring a secure and loyal customer base.

There are dozens of brands of pool cleaners, many of which produce several models. Popular pool cleaner brands include the following: Aquabot, AquaVac, Zodiac Barracuda, Manta Ray, Dirt Devil, Kreepy Krawly, Letro, Polaris, Dolphin, Avenger, Smartpool, StaRite Lil’ Shark, and Totally Hayward. All of the above-mentioned brands have their advantages, and should be investigated before a final decision is made. Three of the most popular brands however, are Barracuda, Dolphin, and Polaris. All three of these brands have excellent reputations, and offer a variety of models to suit every price range and pool cleaning requirement. In point form, here are some of their attractive pool cleaner features:

The Barracuda Pool Cleaner

Boasts an obsessive compulsive clean

Five different models, including the X7 Quattro, the G2 and G3, the S3 Robotic, and the Ranger

All models are sleek and attractive designs, that can access even tight, hard-to-reach corners

All models effectively climb walls and sharp inclines, in order to cover all available surfaces

One to two year warranty offered on all products

The Barracude Pool Cleaner.

The Dolphin Pool Cleaner

Produced by Maytronics

Multiple models of both residential and commercial robotic pool cleaners; eight for residential use; four for commercial use

All models are diagnostic and self programming; they scan the pool for its dimensions, and calculate the most efficient cleaning patterns

Each model features a self-contained filter bag

Suitable for hexagonal and round pools, as well as conventional square and rectangular shapes

Price ranges between $600.00 and $1,270.00 for residential models, and $1,300.00 to $4,800.00 for commercial models

The Dolphin Pool Cleaner.

The Polaris Pool Cleaner

Nine models total; four pressure cleaners with booster pumps, four without, and one suction cleaner

Sporty design of all models features all wheel drive wheels that are excellent at climbing all kinds of walls. Wheels also are reversible with back-up valves, providing and excellent solution to getting out of tight corners and avoiding obstacles

Filter bags on each model are removable by twist and release mechanism

The Polaris 360 pool Cleaner is an advanced pressure-side automatic pool cleaner that does not require a separate booster pump. It is powered by the pool’s filtered water pressure, and sweeps, scrubs, and vacuums the pool floor and walls while also dealing with larger debris such as pebbles and leaves

The Polaris Pool Cleaner.

When choosing the right pool cleaner for your needs, it is important to distinguish the many different types of cleaners available on the market. The specifications between inground and above-ground cleaners are different, and although some cleaners work on all pool surfaces, certain models may be intended specifically for vinyl, gunite, and so on. Ensure that you are researching the appropriate models for your type of pool. Another distinction that may affect your decision include whether or not the cleaner is attached to a suction hose, or is a self-contained robotic pool cleaner with an attached filter bag.

Although the initial cost of a pool cleaner may seem prohibitive, you will likely find it to be a worthwhile investment. With most popular brands offering reasonable warranties on their products, combined with their combined convenient and time saving properties, you will find that your pool cleaner has paid itself off in no time at all.

A hot tub is an ideal set up for entertaining guests and for just relaxing your tired muscles after a long day. In order to keep you hot tub clean and safe for use, it is important to maintain its water by using a filter, changing the water regularly, and by using the right combination of <a href="http://blueicepool.com/hot-tub-chemicals-to-keep-water-clean/"title="" >hot tub chemicals.

There are several types of hot tub spa chemicals that are commonly used on home hot tub and spa set-ups. Before purchasing your hot tub and accessories, research the many uses and functions of the wide variety of chemicals for hot tubs, in order to identify which chemicals and tubs will be the most appropriate and effective for your purposes and needs. The following article will discuss the various types of commonly used hot tubs chemicals, and their functions, as well as their advantages and disadvantages, in order to help facilitate this process.

Hot tubs can provide user with excellent health benefits that are a result of healthy and necessary relaxation. Unfortunately, however, they can be more harmful than helpful if they are allowed to harbor germs and bacteria. The warm water environment of hot tubs is an ideal situation in which bacteria can grow and flourish. It is important to kill off these bacteria, in order to maintain a safe and healthy spa environment. The most common type of hot tub chemical is therefore the type that sanitizes, and effectively kills off bacteria. Common hot tub spa chemical sanitizing agents include chlorine, bromine, and biguanide.

Chlorine is a widely used chemical. It is used as a cleaning agent to bleach and sanitize hard, non-porous surfaces. It is also commonly used in swimming pools and, in small amounts, in most tap waters. In hot tubs, chlorine is generally used in granule or tablet forms, which are intended specifically to be used as hot tub sanitizers. Although proven a very effective sanitizing and disinfecting agent, the major disadvantage of using chlorine is the fact that it vaporizes when exposed to high temperatures. This vaporization produces a gas with a distinct chemical odor, which can frequently be irritating to the eyes, nose, and lungs. Chlorine is also a drying agent, and can leave a residual smell on the skin.

Bromine produces less of an odor than chlorine, and does not vaporize as easily. It is often used in combination with chlorine, which functions as an activator. Bromine is typically dispersed into spa water via a dispenser that floats on the water’s surface, or through a cartridge system.

Biguanide also produces less of an odor, and does not use any chlorine or bromine. For people with chemical sensitivities, biguanide may be one of the better leisure time hot tub chemicals options, since it does not gas off, but effectively keeps the water clear and germ free. It uses a hydrogen peroxide-based oxidizer to help rid the water of organic debris. For biuanide-based hot tub systems, there is also no need of shock oxidizers, which are often chlorine-based and leave a strong residual, since this oxidizing system is already in place.

In today’s society, sensitivities to chemicals, or simply a desire to avoid excessive exposure to them, are commonly expressed. Although a chemical free hot tub is not entirely advisable (simply because of the strong potential for bacteria growth), it is possible to reduce the amount of chemicals used with a few simple solutions.

If you are in the market for a new hot tub or spa, look specifically for one that comes equipped with an ozonator. The use of ozone as an effective method for oxidizing water has become extremely popular, even in commercial pools. Although it does not eliminate the needs for chemical sanitizers, the amounts that need to be applied will be considerably reduced through this process.

Another way of reducing the need to apply harsh chemical sanitizers is by using natural hot tub chemicals, in the form of mineral sanitizers. Again, this system does not entirely eliminate the need for other chemical agents, but will considerably reduce the amounts required. Minerals are typically released into the water through a floating cartridge, producing natural chemical reactions in the hot tub water, while providing additional benefits to bathers’ skin.

Additional suggestions for keeping your spa water clean and clear include regular hot tub maintenance, such as regularly checking the pH of the water to assure that it contains the correct levels of acidity and alkalinity, regularly cleaning the water filter, and changing the water every 60 to 90 days. With these basic care tips and the right balance of hot tub chemicals, you should be able to experience a hot tub that is relaxing and entertaining, as well as clean and bacteria-free.

Pools are a lot of fun but they can also be a lot of work. If you already own a pool, or if you’re thinking about owning a pool, you should know that properly maintaining your pool is going to cost you a little bit of money and will require you to do some work from time to time. Not only do you have to keep your pool clean, keep the chemicals balanced, and maintain the filtration system, but you have to remember to put out the swimming <a href="http://blueicepool.com/why-you-should-own-a-pool-cover/"title="" >pool cover whenever it is required.

You can always hire a pool boy to do all of that general maintenance stuff for your pool. He’ll probably charge you an arm and a leg to do stuff that you can just as easily do on your own but at least you won’t have to worry about it right? Well, if you’re like me and you’re struggling to make ends meet in these trying economic times, you probably want to save a little money. Get rid of the pool boy and learn to do the pool maintenance yourself! Here’s the first step: Learn how to use your swimming pool cover.

The swimming pool cover is the foundation of pool maintenance. Your pool cover is going to protect your pool from weather damage, it is going to keep things like branches and squirrels from falling into the water, and it is also going to keep the pool’s waters at an even temperature and level. If you fail to cover your pool properly at the necessary times you are going to end up with a broken down pool that will cost you a lot of money to fix up.

So What is a Pool Cover and How Does it Work?

Swimming pool safety covers protect the pool from all kinds of potentially damaging things.

There are a few different types of <a href="http://blueicepool.com/how-to-use-swimming-pool-covers/"title="" >swimming pool covers but they all basically serve the same purpose: protect the swimming pool from danger. The basic swimming pool cover is a large plastic sheet designed to fit the form of the pool exactly. It covers all points of the pool and shields the water (or the empty basin) from anything that might fall in.

A swimming pool winter cover is designed specifically to protect against the harsh temperatures of the winter months. You might not need one of these in places like Florida and California, but if it snows in your area you want to put a winter cover over your pool. As the temperature falls and the water freezes, snow is going to start to come down. If snow gets into your pool it is going to cause some serious damage. Ice tends to expand and contract as it freezes and melts. This expansion process can crack your pool and cause some serious weather damage. You don’t want that to happen.

Winter swimming pool covers will keep your pool from freezing like the pool pictured above.

Solar swimming pool covers serve just the opposite purpose as the winter covers. A swimming pool solar cover is designed to trap the heat given off by the sun inside the pool. You can use a solar cover to heat up your pool so that it is nice and warm when you dive in.

Enough Jibber Jabber! How Do You Use the Pool Cover?

Using a swimming pool safety cover is pretty simple really. All you have to do is unfurl the plastic or vinyl sheet and fasten it down on all sides of the pool. There are three types of pool covers: the manual pool cover, the semi-automatic pool cover, and the automatic pool cover.

Manual pool covers are going to require the most amount of work because you have to unfurl it when you want to cover the pool and you have to fold it up when you want to uncover the pool. With automatic ones all you have to do is flip a switch. When you flip the switch a swimming pool cover pump will automatically reel in the cover.

I’ve never been a big fan of <a href="http://blueicepool.com/how-to-replace-your-above-ground-pool-liners/"title="" >pool liners. Vinyl pool liners always seemed to wrinkle up in my pools and they made my feet feel funny when I swam around. The texture and the durability of pool liners has made me shy away from them and favor gunite pools but if you’re stuck with a pool that requires a pool liner for whatever reason, fear not, this article will help you replace it when it starts to fall apart.

If you need to do a pool liner repair, make sure to get some people to help you install the new pool liner.

Pool liners need to be replaced if their colors start to fade or if they develop serious holes or wrinkles in them. A leaky pool liner is bad news for you as a pool owner. Not only will a leaking pool liner cost you a ton of money on your water bills but it could also seriously damage the foundation of your pool. Your pool could develop a serious case of mold or develop cracks and rust if you let too much water underneath the pool liner. Don’t leave swimming pool liners in the pool if they are endangering the pool’s integrity.

Replacing your pool liner is an easy process. If you sucker one of your friends or family members into helping you out (which shouldn’t be too hard since they owe you for all of those times they come over to mooch off your nice above ground pool) it should only take a few hours. You could even make a fun day of it with a six pack of cold beers and some good music. You can still have a pool party even if you’re just working on the pool and not actually playing in it, right?

Anyway, you want to pick a nice warm day to work on your pool liner. You’ll be working with vinyl so temperature can play a huge factor in the work load. If it’s too cold outside you’re going to have a hard time manipulating the pool liner but if it is too hot you aren’t going to get any form out of it at all. A nice warm spring day is ideal for replacing either an above ground pool liner or inground pool liners.

Inground pool liner installation instructions.

Step by Step: Replacing Your Pool Liner

First thing’s first, you have to get rid of your old swimming pool liner. Use a utility knife to cut around the edges of the pool liner until you have successfully cut around the entire pool. Gather up and throw out the old liner.

Unscrew and remove the top cap and top rail holding the old liner in place. Don’t lose these parts because you are going to have to put them right back where you found them when you are done putting up the new pool liner.

Pools that use pool liners have retaining tracks to hold their pool liners in place. You want to lift that up and off the old liner. Remove any excess materials that may have been left over from your earlier cutting.

Check to see if you have anything you need to replace aside from the old pool liner. This could be the wall foam that’s used for support or it could be the bottom clip or bottom pad. If you find that they need replacing (and they probably do) you should replace them before installing the new pool liner.

Now that you’ve dismantled and tossed out the old pool liner and replaced all of the other stuff you needed to replace, you can go ahead and unwrap the new liner.

You and your friend need to stretch out the pool liner across the pool. You should be standing on one side of the pool (outside the pool) and your friend should stand on the opposite site (also on the outside of the pool.) Each of you will hold an end of the pool liner and move in unison around the pool locking it into place. Always keep the same amount of distance between the two of you.

After you’re locked the liner in place it is time to begin filling the pool. Use a garden hose to slowly introduce the water to the new pool liner. As you are filling the pool keep an eye out for wrinkles and bumps. You or your friend can stand inside the pool and use a broom to brush out any odd places while the other one stands on the outside of the pool making adjustments to how the liner is fitting.

As the water level rises, and before it reaches the skimmer, find the skimmer and cut out a hole for it in the liner.

Install all of the top rails and top caps you took off before and you are all done!

If you’re still unsure about how to replace your pool liner in your above ground pool you should consult an expert pool person. You can walk into any pool supplies store and ask them questions about how you might best go about installing a pool liner. They might even have some cheap pool liners for sale.
